Sources: Nottingham Forest hopeful of beating Tottenham to Dean Henderson signing
Nottingham Forest are keen to sign goalkeeper Dean Henderson permanently ahead of Tottenham this summer, sources have told Football Insider.
The 26-year-old Man United loanee has impressed at the City Ground this season during his temporary stay, and Steve Cooper is pushing the Forest board to add him to his squad on a permanent basis.
However, Forest understand that a move for Henderson is only possible if they avoid relegation this season – Forest currently sit 16th in the Premier League, just two points clear from the bottom three.
Football Insider sources revealed on Friday (24 March) that Henderson has accepted his time at Old Trafford is over and is set to leave the club this summer.
Henderson lashed out at his treatment at Old Trafford, labelling it “criminal” that he was kept on the sidelines last season.
“It was frustrating because I turned down so many good loans last summer for that reason and they wouldn’t let me go. So, it was frustrating. To sit there and waste 12 months, it’s criminal really at my age,” Henderson said.

Tottenham and Chelsea have also shown interest in the Red Devils goalkeeper, with Graham Poter in the market for a new No.1 and Hugo Lloris facing an uncertain future in North London.
Spurs are open to selling their 36-year-old club captain this summer, with a move to Ligue Un the most likely for Lloris, according to this site’s sources.
Henderson is currently sidelined at Forest through injury, with Keylor Navas welcomed to the club in January to fill in while he remains in the treatment room.
Henderson has made 20 first-team appearances for Cooper’s side this season, keeping six clean sheets and conceding 33 goals.
