Sources: Nottingham Forest line up move for Norwich star Hugill

Nottingham Forest have set their sights on signing Norwich City striker Jordan Hugill, Football Insider can exclusively reveal.

The Reds are in the market for a centre-forward who is a proven scorer in the Championship.

A Forest source has told Football Insider that the club are ready to test the water with a move for Hugill, 29, after Norwich’s promotion.

The Canaries could be tempted to let the ex-West Ham forward go if they can bring in further reinforcements.

Hugill signed for Norwich last summer following the club’s relegation from the Premier League.

He made 31 appearances in the Championship but only found the net on four occasions.

However, he only started seven games as he played second fiddle to Teemu Pukki.

He also suffered issues with his hamstring as he missed 10 games through injury.

Hugill has spent the last few years as a journeyman after joining West Ham in 2018.

He only made three appearances for the Hammers during his time in the capital and spent two seasons on loan at Middlesbrough and QPR.

The forward scored 13 goals for the R’s but couldn’t recapture this form with the Canaries.

He left West Ham after accumulating 22 minutes of football over his three outings.

Nottingham Forest finished 17th in the Championship last season with Lewis Grabban finishing as the club’s top scorer with six goals.

Chris Hughton’s side are in need of more firepower and Hugill could be a useful asset if he rediscovers his best form.
