Nottingham Forest have rejected multiple loan and permanent deal enquiries for Brennan Johnson, Football Insider can reveal.

The Wales international is in demand after a dazzling loan spell at Lincoln City this campaign.

A source has told Football Insider Chris Hughton has earmarked Johnson for a major role next season in the Nottingham Forest first team.

The 20-year-old featured in Hughton's first two Championship matchday squads before being loaned out to Lincoln.

Johnson has two years left on his Nottingham Forest contract.

At Lincoln this season he has scored 13 goals and provided 13 assists in 47 games across all competitions.

The Imps secured their place in the League One play-off final with a 3-2 aggregate win over Sunderland.

The Forest man scored the second goal in their 2-0 win in the first leg at Sincil Bank.

Hughton will be keen to get his Forest side scoring more goals after their disappointing season.

They found the net just 37 times last term in the Championship - only bitter rivals Derby County scored fewer goals.

Glenn Murray was brought in during the January window to try and solve the issue but he found the net just twice.

He was released at the end of the season while James Garner, who scored four goals for the Reds, returned to his parent club Manchester United.

Forest finished 17th in last season's Championship, just nine points above the relegation places.
