Sources: Nuno promotes Tottenham youngster Omole to first XI and wants him secured to new contract
Tottenham youngster Tobi Omole has been promoted to train with the first-team squad after impressing manager Nuno Espirito Santo, Football Insider can exclusively reveal.
The centre-back, 21, joined on a free transfer from Arsenal in the summer of 2020 and was regarded at the time as a stop-gap signing.
But a Tottenham source has told Football Insider that Nuno has taken a liking to the Omole and has made it clear he regards him as capable to landing a new contract.
The young defender’s current deal is due to expire at the end of the season.
Omole will spend the next two weeks training with the first team at Hotspur Way as Nuno assesses him at close quarters.
The youngster has never played for the Tottenham senior side, although he has been on the bench for three matches this season – one in the Premier League and two in the Europa Conference League.

Omole was initially signed on a free to fill up the Spurs Under-23s squad last season and allow some of their most promising young defenders to go out on loan and get senior experience.
His arrival enabled Spurs to sanction deals for Malachi Walcott and Jubril Okedina to head out on loan.
Tottenham’s four senior centre-backs are Eric Dier, Cristian Romero, Davinson Sanchez and Joe Rodon, while the versatile Japhet Tanganga can also fill in at the position.
Dier has started all seven Premier League matches this season, although summer loan signing Romero is expected to emerge as the team’s defensive leader after his outstanding display against Aston Villa last weekend.
