Exclusive: Player has signed four-year Leeds deal this afternoon
Joe Gelhardt has signed a four-year Leeds United contract this afternoon to complete his transfer from Wigan Athletic, Football Insider can reveal.
The newly-promoted Premier League outfit are set to unveil the England Under-18 international striker as their third summer signing after he completed a medical and finalised the transfer.
A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Gelhardt, 18, put pen to paper this afternoon and is now a Leeds player.
The capture of the highly-rated youngster is a major coup for the Yorkshire giants.
Gelhardt has attracted offers and interest from leading clubs including Everton, Celtic and Rangers and even Liverpool were assessing him earlier in the campaign.
Leeds are set to pay Wigan an initial £1million plus add-ons for the striker after Wigan’s administrators accepted their offer.

Gelhardt has agreed personal terms on a contract that will tie him to Elland Road until 2024.
The wonderkid had previously been valued at around the £5million mark by the Latics but they have been forced to cash in for less than they had originally hoped after going into administration last month.
Gelhardt has graduated from the Wigan youth ranks to clock up 21 first-team appearances, 19 of which have come in the 19-20 campaign that ended in their relegation to League One.
The rising star is poised to become Leeds’ third signing of this summer after goalkeeper Illan Meslier and winger Helder Costa.
The pair both converted 2019-20 season-long loans into permanent transfers.
