Sources: Portsmouth and Blackpool in race for QPR attacker Thomas

Queens Park Rangers attacker George Thomas is a target for Blackpool and Portsmouth in this month’s window, Football Insider understands.

The former Leicester winger, 24, has struggled to hold down a regular starting spot in Mark Warburton’s side so far this season.

A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Championship outfit Blackpool and League One’s Portsmouth have made enquiries about Thomas’ availability on loan this month.

QPR could be ready to sanction a move for the second half of the season.

Thomas has made seven Championship appearances this season but has only racked up 83 minutes of action across these outings.

He has completed 90 minutes on two occasions, against Leyton Orient and Oxford United in the early rounds of the League Cup.

Since joining the Rs on a free transfer in the summer of 2020, Thomas has struggled to make an impact at the club.

He has made 27 total appearances and has only contributed one assist.

The early weeks of his QPR career were derailed by injury as he missed two months with a thigh problem.

The attacker has never been able to hold down a place in the starting lineup and has now only played 15 minutes of league football since mid-September.

Thomas’ record in League One is much better, as he has scored eight goals and registered seven assists across 79 games in the third tier.

All of those assists and three goals came during his loan spell with Scunthorpe in the 2018-19 season.

Portsmouth are looking for a player to boost their chances of securing a play-off place this season.

Meanwhile, Blackpool are also looking for new recruits as they look to continue their impressive form in the Championship.
