A host of Championship clubs, including Preston, Cardiff, Sheffield Wednesday, Rotherham and Blackburn Rovers are plotting late moves for former Liverpool winger Liam Millar, sources have told Football Insider.

Millar, 23, is currently playing for FC Basel after making the move to Switzerland from Anfield in the summer of 2021.

His Championship suitors have made enquiries about offering the Canada international a return to England before Friday's transfer deadline.

The winger has made 98 appearances for Basel since his arrival two years ago, netting 13 goals and offering up ten assists in those outings.

Despite featuring heavily for Liverpool's youth teams but only made one appearance for the first team.

The Canada international also has experience in the Scottish top flight, spending the second half of the 2018-19 season on loan with Kilmarnock where he scored two goals in 36 appearances across all competitions.

Millar has featured 21 times for his national team and most recently played in their Gold Cup campaign which saw them reach the quarter-finals where they were knocked out by the USA on penalties.

Preston, Cardiff, Sheffield Wednesday, Rotherham and Blackburn are all in the market for attacking reinforcements.

The 20-year-old has already been involved with Mauricio Pochettino's first-team this season, making two appearances off the bench against West Ham and Luton Town.
