Sources: Preston North End and Hull City ready Lee Erwin offers

Preston North End and Hull City are readying contract offers for Scottish striker Lee Erwin, sources have told Football Insider.

Erwin will become a free agent this weekend when he plays his final game for Finnish side FC Haka.

Former Motherwell and St Mirren striker Erwin has impressed in Finland, scoring 20 goals.

His form has attracted interest from a number of clubs including Preston and Hull and the Championship duo are both expected to table contract offers.

Preston North End in particular are in the market for a goalscorer after finding the net just 11 times in their opening 17 league games this season.

As quoted by Lancs Live earlier this week (22 October), manager Ryan Lowe blamed his side’s woes in front of goal on the lack of a “20-goal a season striker”.

Emil Riis scored 20 times in all competitions last season and has four goals to his name this term.

Hull City have been more prolific in front of goal but still find themselves at the wrong end of the Championship table and are reportedly close to appointing Liam Rosenior as their new manager.

Both clubs see Erwin as capable of turning their campaigns around after a prolific spell in Finland.

The 28-year-old has previous experience playing in England during spells with Leeds United, Oldham Athletic and Bury.

Lowe was on the books at Bury at the same time as Erwin during his playing career but the two did not play together.

In other news, Newcastle United are likely to announce a near-£300million deal before next season.
