Rangers and Burnley are plotting moves to sign QPR midfielder Sam Field, sources have told Football Insider.

The Scottish giants and Premier League new boys are both big admirers of the former West Brom man, 25, and have registered their interest in a potential deal.

Field is in the final year of his contract and Rangers and Burnley are ready to test their resolve to keep hold of the midfielder.

Rangers boss Michael Beale is a fan of Field having worked with the player during his time in charge at Loftus Road and he is interested in being reunited with him at Ibrox.

Former England U21 international Field made 48 appearances in all competitions for QPR last season, chipping in with two goals and three assists.

The midfielder was in the starting lineup for QPR's opening Championship game against Watford and played the full 90 minutes of their 4-0 defeat.

The Gers have already lost several assets from their midfield this summer with experienced duo Scott Arfield and Steven Davis departing following the expiration of their contracts.

Young attacking midfielder Alex Lowry has also headed out to Hearts on loan whilst last season's loanee Malik Tillman returned to Bayern Munich.

Beale has already added Jose Cifuentes and Kieran Dowell to his midfield ranks for the upcoming campaign, the latter making his competitive debut in their opening day defeat to Kilmarnock on Saturday (5 August).
