Sources: Rangers holding new Alfredo Morelos talks in next days

Rangers will have fresh talks with striker Alfredo Morelos over the next week in an attempt to clarify his future, sources have told Football Insider.

Morelos‘ contract expires in the summer and there is interest from France and Italy in the striker.

The Gers are chasing a new forward ahead of the summer window but they are also aware they could lose their European top scorer for free at the end of the season.

There has been interest from a number of clubs across Europe but claims of an agreement with Sevilla were understood by Football Insider to be wide of the mark.

Now, Rangers have scheduled new talks with Morelos in an attempt to find out once and for all if he is interested in committed to a contract extension, or is dead set on leaving.

The striker has scored 122 times for the Ibrox side since his £1million move from HJK Helsinki in 2017.

His relationship at the club has been tumultuous and at times he has seen himself subject to discipline issues that put talks of a new deal on hold.

Despite fitness and form issues over this season he is still considered by many to be the club’s best striker and some fans are devastated that he could walk away for nothing.

Last week (16 March), manager Michael Beale said he has spoken with Morelos and that the pair “have a good relationship” and are on the “same page”.

He was frozen out by previous manager Giovanni Van Bronckhorst but has shown glimpses of his best again under new manager Michael Beale.

This season the forward has scored 10 times and added seven assists despite being second choice to Antonio Colak for most of the campaign.
