Rangers are exploring the conditions of a potential deal for Aston Villa sensation Tim Iroegbunam, sources have told Football Insider.

It is believed that Gers boss Michael Beale is a huge admirer of the 19-year-old central midfielder.

Beale took him on loan to Queens Park Rangers when he took charge at Loftus Road at the start of the 2022-23 campaign.

Iroegbunam thrived on the flank and in central midfield under the now-Rangers boss.

The England Under-20 international has been less effective since Beale's departure in November but has still made 28 Championship starts amid 34 league appearances in total.

Beale also knows Iroegbunam from his time on the coaching staff at Aston Villa - and believes he will have a big future.

Rangers are interested in both a loan and a permanent deal for the youngster.

Iroegbunam has more than four years left to run on his Aston Villa contract after signing a long-term extension in March 2022.

The former West Brom academy star made the move to Villa Park in the summer of 2021.

He has made just four senior appearances for Aston Villa - including a Premier League start against Norwich in the 2021-22 campaign.

Rangers are expected to make several headline signings this summer following another disappointing season.

Rangers

Midfielders Steven Davis, Scott Arfield and Ryan Jack are all out of contract at the end of this month.

Beale's side are on the cusp of losing out on the Scottish Premiership title - with rivals Celtic close to securing a domestic treble.
