Sources: Rangers set sights on signing Harroui after Thursday night transfer mission

Rangers are showing interest in Dutch goalscoring midfielder Abdou Harroui ahead of a potential summer move, Football Insider can reveal.

The Glasgow giants sent one of their top talent spotters to assess him at the Euro Under-21s Championships.

Harroui, 23, has been a mainstay of the Holland Under-21 side that reached the semi-finals before last night’s defeat to Germany.

A recruitment source has told Football Insider Rangers are weighing up a move for the Sparta Rotterdam star.

He has a contract with the Eredivisie club that expires in the summer of 2022.

Harroui scored six goals and provided three assists in 32 league games this season as they ended the campaign in eighth place.

The versatile midfielder, who can also operate from the right-hand side, graduated from the club’s academy and now has 102 appearances under his belt.

He has found the net 18 times and contributed 13 assists in that time.

Rangers romped home to a historic 55th league title this term but relied heavily on veteran midfield duo Scott Arfield and Steven Davis.

Arfield, 32, and Davis, 36, are both under contract until the end of next season.

Davis featured in 49 games across all competitions this campaign and Arfield played 45 times this term.

Steven Gerrard is also in the market for reinforcements as he prepares for the Ibrox outfit’s first season in the Champions League since the 2011-12 campaign.

In other news, Rangers have been backed in their reported pursuit of speedster who cost £20million in 2019.
