Sources: Rangers told £1.5m will seal January Ben Jackson deal

Huddersfield Town have slapped a £1.5million asking price on Rangers target Ben Jackson ahead of January, sources have told Football Insider.

The left-sided star, 21, is on the radar of the Glasgow giants as we first revealed last week (10 November).

Huddersfield do not want to lose Jackson as they fight to secure their Championship status in the second half of the season.

The defender has established himself in the first team under new manager Mark Fotheringham, starting seven of Huddersfield’s last nine Championship games.

Rangers are among a number of clubs closely monitoring Jackson’s progress going into the winter window.

They are looking for a potential replacement for Borna Barisic amid doubts over his Ibrox future.

Jackson, who can play left-back, left wing-back and on the left of midfield, has a contract with Huddersfield that runs until the summer of 2024.

The super-quick youngster has come through the ranks at Huddersfield and is highly regarded by the club’s hierarchy.

Rangers’ defence has suffered major injury blows this season with Connor Goldson, John Souttar and Filip Helander all currently sidelined.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side have only kept one clean sheet in their last six premiership games

Barisic, 30, has less than two years to run on his current Rangers deal.

Ridvan Yilmaz, 21, was signed from Besiktas in the summer to provide cover and competition but he has only started two Scottish Premiership games this season and is currently out with a hamstring injury.

The Gers are currently second in the Scottish Premiership, nine points behind Celtic.
