Celtic sensation Rocco Vata is pushing for an exit before the end of the summer window, sources have told Football Insider.

The attacking midfielder, 18, is into the final year of his contract at Parkhead.

As such, Vata can leave for a training compensation fee of around £300,000 in January.

It is believed a contract offer made to Vata is now off the table with just hours remaining until Friday's (1 September) deadline.

The youngster, who came through the ranks at Parkhead, is now pushing for an exit.

Vata had featured under previous Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou - making his senior debut for the Hoops late last year against Hibernian in the Scottish Premiership.

He has made a total of four senior appearances.

The starlet has since been sent back to the B Team - and has already managed six goals in five games so far in the 2023-24 campaign.

Vata was part of the travelling squad for Celtic's clash against St Johnstone but did not make the bench despite injuries and a depleted squad.

He has been capped six times by the Republic of Ireland Under-19's and was called up to represent his country at Under-21 level in June, but could only manage a place on the bench for a friendly with Kuwait.

Celtic have lost several of their young talents in recent years, with Karamoko Dembele, Ben Doak and Leo Hjelde all leaving Parkhead before breaking through at senior level.
