Sources: Ruben Amorim now 'ready' for Tottenham job after shining in Chelsea interview

Ruben Amorim is “ready” for a job in the Premier League and is being eyed by Tottenham, sources have told Football Insider.

The Sporting Lisbon boss is on the radar of Spurs amid growing uncertainty around the future of Antonio Conte and is also being tracked by a number of other elite clubs.

Amorim was interviewed by Chelsea last autumn before they chose to appoint Graham Potter and the London club were highly impressed by the 38-year-old.

The Lilywhites have been eyeing up potential replacements for Conte for some time and on 19 March, Football Insider revealed that the Italian’s time as Tottenham manager is coming to an end.

At the latest, the 53-year-old is expected to depart the London club when his contract expires at the end of the season, but he could leave this week after his explosive rant following Spurs’ 3-3 draw with Southampton on Saturday (18 March).

The club’s hierarchy are now debating whether to end Conte’s reign during the international break.

Amorim’s contract at the Jose Alvalade Stadium runs until 2026 after joining back in 2020.

The Portguese boss guided Sporting to a Primeira Liga win in his second season at the club and secured second spot last season.

Sporting are currently fourth in the league and have won four out of their last five games.

The Portuguese side also progressed to the Europa League quarter-finals after beating Arsenal 5-3 on penalties last week (16 March).
