Norwich City head of recruitment Kieran Scott has agreed to join Middlesbrough as their new sporting director, Football Insider understands.

The talent-spotter has been targeted after playing a key role in the Canaries’ shrewd transfer drive.

A Boro source has told Football Insider that terms agreed with Scott and he will start his new role at the Riverside at the end of the transfer window.

Scott currently works under sporting director Stuart Webber at Carrow Road.

He has been vital in the club's recruitment work and helped bring in Teemu Pukki and Emiliano Buendia.

Pukki has scored 67 goals in 126 games for the club while Buendia joined Aston Villa for an initial £33million fee this summer.

Scott revealed via the Pink Un in February that he had ambitions to become a sporting director and Webber was teaching him about the role.

While Webber will leave Norwich City at the end of his current contract in 2022 Scott will not succeed him.

Instead, he is heading to the north-east with Boro.

The Championship outfit, who finished in 10th-place last season, want to return to a sustainable model.

They do not currently have a sporting director and manager Neil Warnock has made it clear who he wants at the club.

Boro have brought in five senior players this summer including striker Uche Ikpeazu from Wycombe.

Football Insider learned on 20 July they had agreed a deal for Rotherham United's Matt Crooks before it was confirmed three days later.
