Sources: Scott McTominay tells Man United he wants to quit
Scott McTominay has informed the Man United board that he wants to leave this summer if dropped further down the pecking order, sources have told Football Insider.
The 26-year-old has seen his game time reduced at Old Trafford following the summer arrivals of Casemiro and Christian Eriksen, and a further midfield signing this summer could push the Scotland international to quit.
McTominay wants regular playing time while at the peak of his career, and he views another midfield signing in the summer as a huge threat to his role in the squad.
Football Insider sources revealed on Friday (7 April) that Man United now want to sign Bayern Munich loanee Marcel Sabitzer on a permanent deal this summer.
Sabitzer’s arrival could be the final nail in the coffin for McTominay, with Erik ten Hag already picking the Austria international ahead of him on occasion this season.
McTominay has spent over two decades at Old Trafford after joining the club’s youth academy in 2002.

After progressing through the youth setup and earning his professional debut in 2017, McTominay’s role in the squad has continued to grow.
He has made 34 appearances across all competitions for United this season, but his Premier League minutes have been limited to just 1,028. In contrast, McTominay played 2,392 minutes of Premier League action last season.
McTominay has already matched his goal record from last season, however, scoring twice this season for the Red Devils.
