Brentford defender Charlie Goode is undergoing a Sheffield United medical after agreeing a deal, Football Insider understands.

A number of Championship clubs have shown an interest in the central defender, 26, but United have won the race for his signature.

A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Goode is expected to complete the move to Bramall Lane by Monday night's cut-off.

Goode has made eight appearances in all competitions for Brentford this season, with his last outing coming in the win over Watford last month.

The Englishman made his Premier League debut for the Bees in their 2-1 defeat against Norwich in November 2021.

The Watford-born defender has made just four top-flight starts for Thomas Frank’s side this term.

Goode learned his trade in non-league football.

He came through the ranks at Harefield United before enjoying spells at Hadley, AFC Hayes, and Hendon.

He earned a move to Scunthorpe in 2015 before departing to Northampton on an initial loan after four seasons at Glanford Park.

The defender then departed for Brentford in the summer of 2020 after a hugely impressive spell with the Cobblers.

He earned Northampton a reported club-record fee worth in excess of £1million.

The 26-year-old made 12 appearances in all competitions last term as the Bees were promoted to the Premier League via the play-offs.

Sheffield United are looking to bolster their defensive options in the last throes of the winter window.

The Blades are eyeing a playoff spot after a recent resurgence in form.

Sheffield United

Paul Heckingbottom's side have lost just one of their last nine Championship games.

The 11th-place side are just six points adrift of sixth-place Middlesborough with two games in hand on the Teessiders.
