Leeds United defender Junior Firpo is wanted by multiple Spanish clubs ahead of the summer, sources have told Football Insider.

La Liga teams are keeping tabs on the former Barcelona left-back, 26, following his impressive return to the United XI.

Firpo's future is likely to depend - as will many of his teammates - on whether Leeds are able to survive relegation from the Premier League.

Notwithstanding that he could still leave the Yorkshire outfit in the main transfer window with left-back seen as a position that could need changing.

Firpo has had a mixed two seasons at Elland Road after joining in the summer of 2021 from the Catalan giants for a fee of £12.8million rising to £15.5m with add-ons.

The deal was seen as a major coup for Leeds at the time but the former Camp Nou star has struggled for form and fitness in a white shirt.

He has made 42 appearances across the last two campaigns without being totally convinced at left-back.

But he is back in the team under new boss Javi Gracia and has started the club's last five Premier League matches after replacing Pascal Struijk when he was injured in the 2-2 draw against Man United last month.

Struijk is now fit again but has been an unused sub in the last two games with Firpo preferred in the left-back role by the new manager.
