Sources: Sunderland in advanced talks to beat Celtic to Edouard Michut signing
Sunderland are in advanced talks to sign Paris Saint-Germain sensation Edouard Michut, sources have told Football Insider.
The midfielder, 19, has held talks to join Celtic this summer, but he is now closing in on a move to the Championship giants.
Sunderland are working on a loan signing in a deal that would be regarded as a major coup given Michut’s status as a France Under-19 international.
Negotiations are ongoing and could now be completed in the next hours.
The youngster has played six times for PSG in Ligue 1, registering one assist in 67 minutes of action.
Michut primarily operates in an attacking midfield role and is under contract at Parc des Princes until June 2025.

Celtic reportedly launched a £2million offer for the 19-year-old last month amid interest from Sevilla, Nice, and Toulouse.
However, it is claimed that PSG are holding out for a £5million fee in order to sanction a permanent deal for the starlet – who has grown frustrated with his lack of first-team opportunities.
A deal for Michut would be in keeping with Sunderland’s transfer policy thus far this summer.
The Black Cats have completed the signing of seven players in the main window – all of whom have been 24 or under.
Alex Neil’s side bolstered their arsenal of wide players with the signing of Costa Rica international Jewison Bennette on Thursday (25 August).
Sunderland have made a strong start to the new campaign after promotion from League One last term, sitting fifth in the second tier with eight points.
