Sunderland, Huddersfield Town and Luton Town have had bids rejected for AFC Wimbledon star Jack Rudoni, Football Insider understands.

The Championship trio have made the attacking midfielder, 21, one of their top targets during this summer's transfer window.

A recruitment source has told Football Insider that AFC Wimbledon are resisting their overtures and have knocked back offers from each of the three clubs.

But Sunderland, Huddersfield and Luton retain an interest in signing Rudoni and are expected to come back with improved bids before the window closes.

AFC Wimbledon were relegated from League One at the end of the 2021-22 season and Rudoni has now entered the final 12 months of his contract.

He emerged as one of the division's breakout stars in 2021-22 as he scored 12 goals and contributed seven assists in 49 appearances across all competitions.

That has taken his tally to 30 goal contributions in 106 games for the Dons since his senior debut in September 2019.

A recruitment source told Football Insider in the winter window (28 January) that Sunderland and Barnsley had made approaches to AFC Wimbledon for the young Englishman.

They were rejected by the London club but his efforts were not enough to prevent their relegation to the fourth tier.

Sunderland have since been promoted back to the Championship and have signed Daniel Ballard from Arsenal on a permanent deal.

Huddersfield beat Luton in the 2021-22 Championship play-off semi-finals before losing to Nottingham Forest in the final.
