Sources: Swansea City and Middlesbrough race to sign Diedhiou after Bristol City exit
Swansea City and Middlesbrough are battling to sign former Bristol City striker Famara Diedhiou, Football Insider has learned.
The Championship duo are both in the market for a proven forward in this summer’s window.
A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Swansea and Boro are keen to sign Diedhiou on a free transfer after his City contract expired last week.
Diedhiou, 28, was a vital player for City last season and made 45 appearances in all competitions.
He scored 10 goals as the club finished 12th following a poor end to the season.
It took the forward nine games to get his first of the season and the rest of his goals came over the next few months.

His last strike came in mid-February as he scored a brace against Middlesbrough.
Diedhiou has been at Bristol City since 2017 and has scored 51 goals in 169 outings.
He joined the club shortly after the most prolific spell of his career.
Diedhiou was sent on loan to Ligue 2 Clermont for a second successive season in 2015-16.
During that spell, he scored 22 goals in 37 games before returning to parent club Angers.
Swansea need a new centre forward after Andre Ayew left the club upon the expiry of his contract.
Diedhiou would present a cheap option for the Swans and Middlesborough due to his own free-agent status.
Boro have already secured the signing of Sammy Ameobi as he rejoined the club after being released by Nottingham Forest.
Neil Warnock’s side will look to avoid the poor run of form that blew their playoff chances when next season gets underway.
