Swansea City are in advanced talks to sign Arsenal goalkeeper Remy Mitchell, Football Insider understands.

The 18-year-old is set to leave the Premier League giants when his current contract expires next month.

A Swansea source has told Football Insider the club have moved quickly to lure Mitchell to south Wales and an agreement is now close.

There is a growing confidence among all parties a deal can be finalised ahead of the summer window opening.

Mitchell has through the ranks at Arsenal and has been on the radar of multiple clubs.

He has made 19 Premier League Under-18 appearances this season as well as featuring in the FA Youth Cup and making the bench for the Under-23s in the EFL Trophy and the Premier League 2.

Mitchell made his debut for Arsenal Under 18s in 2018 when he was still an Under 15 player.

Remarkably, he also featured on the bench for the Gunners' under 23s side while still a schoolboy.

Swansea meandered through a difficult 2021-22 season, finishing 15th in the Championship, 14 points off the play-offs.

Andy Fisher, 24, has been Russell Martin's stopper of choice since his arrival in January.

Before his arrival from MK Dons, Ben Hamer and Josh Gould had shared goalkeeping duties.

The Swans lost in last season's play-off final against Brentford.

They then lost Newcastle loanee Freddie Woodman, who had been the club's first-choice stopper for the previous two seasons.
