Sources: Tottenham and Wolves in race to sign Celtic rising star Frame

Tottenham and Wolves are tracking Celtic rising star Mitchel Frame, Football Insider understands.

The 15-year-old, who turns 16 later this month, has yet to sign a professional deal at the Glasgow giants.

A recruitment source has told Football Insider that has alerted clubs south of the border including Tottenham and Wolves.

They are both actively monitoring the teenage left-back with a view to taking him in the summer.

Scottish clubs are able to tie rising stars to pro deals at 16, a year earlier than those in England.

Frame is a Scotland Under-16 international and has come through the academy ranks at Parkhead.

A number of clubs in England are increasingly looking north of the border for young talent due to Brexit.

Last Friday (14 January) Aston Villa signed 17-year-old defender Kerr Smith from Dundee United after he made 12 senior appearances.

Rangers lost Billy Gilmour to Chelsea when he turned 16 in 2017 and has since established himself as one of Scotland’s key players.

At Celtic, Frame has summer signing Josip Juranovic and Greg Taylor ahead of him in the left-back pecking order.

Ange Postecoglou has not been afraid to use academy talent since taking over as manager last summer (2021).

Right-back Anthony Ralston has turned his reputation around to become one of the first names on the teamsheet and was rewarded with a new contract.

Celtic are back in league action tonight when they host Hibs after a three-week winter break.

In other news, a Tottenham insider has revealed Celtic can sign Cameron Carter-Vickers in January for £7m less than reported.
