The future of Harry Kane is proving a huge part of negotiations as Tottenham sit down for talks with prospective new managers, sources have told Football Insider.

A well-placed source has told this site that having a plan in place to persuade the 29-year-old to stay will be a "big factor" in a potential appointment.

Football Insider revealed on Tuesday (2 May) that Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy wants to make a quick manager appointment after the recent chaos surrounding the club.

Among those being considered for the role are former Bayern Munich boss Julian Nagelsmann, Burnley manager Vincent Kompany – and Feyenoord boss Arne Slot.

It is believed that Spurs want to finalise and announce an appointment as soon as the 2022-23 campaign comes to a conclusion.

Kane will enter the final year of his contract on 30 June and can enter talks over a pre-contract agreement with a foreign club as soon as 1 January 2023.

The England captain has been widely linked with a move to footballing giants Bayern Munich and Man United throughout this season.

He has now also been linked with a sensational reunion with Mauricio Pochettino at Chelsea - with the Blues now set to make the former Tottenham boss their next manager.

Kane has scored 27 goals in 45 appearances across all competitions this term.

The 29-year-old is just five goals away from matching his best-ever Premier League season - which came when he notched 30 strikes in the 2017-18 campaign.

Tottenham are likely to be without Champions League football next season and will have to fight for a Europa League place in the final games of this term.

Ryan Mason will take charge of Spurs until the end of the 2022-23 campaign following the sackings of Antonio Conte and successor Cristian Stellini in the last five weeks.
