Sources: Tottenham lead chase to sign Marc Guehi in '£60m' deal, Paratici is a 'huge' fan

Tottenham currently lead the race to sign Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi, sources have told Football Insider.

Spurs are in the market for a new left-sided centre-back in the summer and have shortlisted the 22-year-old as a top target.

Tottenham managing director Fabio Paratici considers Guehi a “hugely” exciting prospect and is eager to bring him to north London as part of the club’s new project under a new manager.

Palace value Guehi at around £50-60million, although accept that their asking price will be slashed if the club suffer relegation this season.

Man United and Man City are also keeping tabs on Guehi, although it is understood that both Manchester clubs consider Guehi a backup option to other defensive targets.

Guehi could replace Clement Lenglet’s spot in the Spurs squad, with Football Insider sources revealing on Sunday (26 March) that Tottenham have decided to not sign the French defender on a permanent deal.

Guehi was a Chelsea youth product that graduated from the club’s Cobham academy in 2019.

However, first-team minutes proved hard to come and Guehi enjoyed multiple loan stints at Swansea City.

A move to Crystal Palace followed in 2021 for an £18million fee, and Guehi has grown to become a key member of the Eagles squad.

Guehi has made 72 appearances for Palace during his two years at the club and scored four goals in the process.

His impressive form under Patrick Vieira saw Guehi receive his first England call-up in March 2022. He has gone on to make three senior appearances for the Three Lions.
