Sources: Tottenham line up surprise Nuno talks in new manager twist
Tottenham are planning talks with ex-Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo in a shock twist to their manager search, Football Insider can exclusively reveal.
The Londoners emphatically ruled out pursuing the Portugese last month in a move widely reported by multiple outlets.
But the club’s stance has changed following a series of collapsed talks that has left them without a manager 10 weeks after Jose Mourinho’s exit.
A Spurs source has told Football Insider that Nuno is now a contender to replace his countryman and negotiations are expected to take place.
The Londoners have being doing background checks on the ex-Wolves boss ahead of discussions.
The pursuit of the 47-year-old is believed to be led by new managing director Fabio Paratici.

Spurs last week ended talks with Paulo Fonseca and Gennaro Gattuso in what appears to be a chaotic search for a new manager.
It followed the breakdown of talks with Antonio Conte, while the club have also sounded out Leicester’s Brendan Rodgers, Ajax’s Erik ten Hag, Hansi Flick, Rafael Benitez, Julian Nagelsmann and former manager Mauricio Pochettino.
Wolves announced two days before the end of the last Premier League season that Nuno is leaving by mutual consent after four years in charge.
Intriguingly, Nuno’s super-powerful agent Jorge Mendes had not been pushing for his client to take over Tottenham.
As revealed by Football Insider on 10th May, the brilliantly-connected Mendes was keen for Nuno to take over at a club with greater financial resources and ambition that Wolves or Spurs.
Nuno has held talks with Everton and Crystal Palace, and come close to landing both jobs.
But Benitez is currently the favourite to take over at Goodison Park, while Palace ended negotiations with Nuno.
