Tottenham have opened talks over signing Angers forward Mohamed-Ali Cho, Football Insider can exclusively reveal.

The Londoners have made a move for the 18-year-old as they look to recruit a new striker this month.

A Tottenham source has told Football Insider that discussions have got underway over a deal for Cho worth around £16.7million.

Spurs are negotiating a move as they try to answer Antonio Conte's call for reinforcements ahead of the 31 January cut-off.

Cho is one of their targets to provide cover and competition up front.

The immensely promising teenager is a regular starter for Angers even though he only turned 18 last week.

He has 14 Ligue 1 starts among 19 appearances in all competitions this season.

Those have yielded only two goals but Cho is already a France Under-21 international and regarded as destined for big things.

Tottenham are set to be one of the busiest clubs in the final week of the window.

Conte has intensified his push for new blood in the wake of Sunday's 2-0 Premier League defeat to Chelsea.

The capture of Adama Traore is all but done after, as revealed by Football Insider, Tottenham had a bid of £20million plus £2.75m of add-ons accepted by Wolves last Friday (21 January).

Spurs are also working on bringing in a centre-back, central midfielder, a striker and potentially an attacking midfielder.

There are also likely to be a wave of big-name departures to create space in the squad and on the wage bill.
