Sources: Tottenham player transfer collapses due to loan fee
Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg's potential move from Tottenham to Juventus has hit the rocks after initial negotiations, sources have told Football Insider.
It is believed the Serie A giants have baulked at Spurs' loan fee demands after trying to land the 28-year-old on a temporary basis until the end of this season.
Hojbjerg was made a top target at Juve as they target a first Italian top-flight title since the 2019-20 campaign - and a deal could yet be resurrected.
Tottenham had been open to allowing the Denmark international to leave in January - with manager Ange Postecoglou keen to sign a new midfielder if a deal does materialise.
Hojbjerg has made 21 appearances across all competitions so far this season, featuring in all but one of the Lilywhites' fixtures in the 2023-24 campaign.
However, just five of those outings have come as part of the starting line-up.
The ex-Southampton star could see his opportunities grow with Pape Matar Sarr and Yves Bissouma away at the African Cup of Nations.
Hojbjerg was a favourite and regular starter under ex-Spurs managers Antonio Conte and Jose Mourinho, but has fallen out of favour since Postecoglou's appointment last summer.
The 28-year-old, who cost a reported fee of £15million plus add-ons in 2020, has made 166 appearances during his time with Tottenham.
He has also racked up 73 Denmark caps and is set to be a key man for his nation at this year's European Championships.
Tottenham sit fifth in the Premier League after 20 games.
