Tottenham will step up their efforts to sign Chelsea star Conor Gallagher in the summer, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking to the new edition of Football Insider’s Insider Track Podcast, transfer correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed he remains a top target for Ange Postecoglou's side, who are expected to try and bring him to N17 in the summer.

The Lilywhites held extensive talks with their London rivals regarding a permanent move for the midfielder in January, but negotiations broke down after the Blues decided to keep him for the rest of the season.

Now, well-placed sources have told Football Insider that this price could be reduced to £50million in the summer when Gallagher would have just 12 months remaining on his deal at Stamford Bridge.

Gallagher has been a mainstay under Mauricio Pochettino this season having made 29 appearances in all competitions and providing six assists.

The 23-year-old has captained his club in the absence of Reece James and has operated in central midfield, defensive midfield and attacking midfield this season.

Despite failing to land a deal for Gallagher, Tottenham had a successful winter window having signed Timo Werner on loan and Radu Dragusin permanently from Genoa.

Tottenham moved up to fourth in the Premier League table after their 3-2 win against Brentford on Wednesday evening (31 January).

Postecoglou's side are next in action against Everton at Goodison Park on Saturday afternoon (3 February).
