West Brom are lining up a move for versatile Chelsea star Trevoh Chalobah, Football Insider can exclusively reveal.

The midfield anchorman, who turns 22 today, is expected to leave Stamford Bridge after spending the last three seasons out on loan.

A West Brom source has told Football Insider that the club are readying a bid for Chalobah as they look to win the race for his signature.

The England Under-21 international signed a new Chelsea contract last August that runs until the summer of 2023.

However, it appears increasingly unlikely that he will see out the remaining two years of his deal.

Chalobah spent the entirety of the 2020-21 campaign on loan at FC Lorient.

He made 30 appearances across all competitions, with two goals and two assists to his name in that time.

In January, the centre-midfielder played a crucial role in Lorient's 3-2 victory over Paris Saint-Germain.

Speaking to the Guardian, Chalobah described the experience of playing against and beating Neymar, Angel Di Maria and Kylian Mbappe as "unbelievable".

The Chelsea academy product is no stranger to the Championship, having enjoyed loan spells at Ipswich Town and Huddersfield.

In total, he has contributed three goals and two assists in 79 Championship appearances.

Albion are in the market for midfield reinforcements this summer.

Valerien Ismael's squad is light in the centre of the pitch after last season's loan stars Okay Yokuslu and Ainsley Maitland-Niles returned to their parent clubs.

Young midfielder Rekeem Harper has also left The Hawthorns.

He joined Ipswich Town on a permanent deal.
