Sources: West Brom reach full agreement to re-sign Okay Yokuslu

West Brom have agreed a deal to re-sign former star Okay Yokuslu, sources have told Football Insider.

The midfielder, 28, had a spell on loan at West Brom in the Premier League during the 2019-20 season.

The Championship club have finalised talks on a free transfer and now have a full agreement in place with the Turkey international.

Yokuslu is a free agent after his contract at Celta Vigo was terminated by mutual consent earlier this month.

The versatile star played just 594 minutes of football in La Liga last season – despite going out on loan at Getafe in the second half of the campaign.

Yokuslu has reportedly rejected offers from Turkish giants Galatasaray and Besiktas – with both clubs unable to meet his demands.

The midfielder has made 39 appearances for his country and played in all three group games at last year’s Euro 2020 tournament.

The 28-year-old has amassed almost 300 appearances in his homeland and racked up 81 games for Celta Vigo before falling out of favour at the club.

During his first spell at West Brom in the second half of the 2020/21 season – Yokuslu made 15 Premier League starts but was unable to prevent the Baggies’ relegation to the Championship.

The former Trabzonspor star will now be tasked with returning the Midlands side to the top flight – alongside summer additions Jayson Molumby, John Swift, and Jed Wallace.

West Brom finished 10th in the Championship last term as Valerien Ismael was replaced by Bruce in February of this year.

Experienced star Romaine Sawyers has departed The Hawthorns for fellow second-tier side Cardiff, paving the way for Yokuslu’s arrival.

The Baggies will start their promotion charge with a trip to Middlesbrough on 30 July.
