West Brom are plotting a move for Watford striker Andre Gray, Football Insider can exclusively reveal.

The centre-forward, 30, is expected to leave Vicarage Road before the transfer window shuts this month.

A West Brom source has told Football Insider that the club have set their sights on luring Gray either on loan or in a permanent deal.

He has entered the final year of his contract at Watford and they are keen to get him off their wage bill.

Gray has struggled to make an impact at the Hornets since signing in 2017 from Burnley for a then club-record £18million.

He has scored 21 goals in 125 appearances but has not hit double digits in any of his four seasons at the club.

Watford have given the green light for him to leave should the right offer come in.

His availability has caught the attention of West Brom as they look to make an immediate return to the Premier League.

The Baggies view Gray as a proven Championship performer who could be available for an affordable fee.

They currently have Karlan Grant, Callum Robinson and Kenneth Zohore as their senior centre-forward options.

Gray has scored 46 goals in 118 second-tier appearances for the likes of Watford, Burnley and Brentford.

However, he only managed to net five times in 30 league appearances last term, 14 of which came as starts.

West Brom have already got three signings over the line in Adam Reach, Alex Mowatt and Matt Clarke.

They have also seen several senior names depart, including Matheus Pereira, Kieran Gibbs, Ahmed Hegazy and Charlie Austin.
