Sources: Jovan Malcolm set to feature for West Brom tonight

West Brom youngster Jovan Malcolm is on the bench for Friday night’s (3 March) game at Hull, sources have told Football Insider.

Baggies boss Carlos Corberan has named Malcolm, 20, in his matchday squad for the clash with Hull after losing a number of regulars to injury.

Malcolm, who is highly-regarded at the Hawthorns, made his first-team debut in the FA Cup earlier this season and scored in the third-round replay win against Chesterfield (17 January).

If the youngster comes off the bench tonight, he will be making his Championship debut.

Forwards Brandon Thomas-Asante and Grady Diangana have suffered recent injury problems.

Karlan Grant and Jake Livermore will also be missing for the Baggies as they travel to the KCOM Stadium.

Malcolm has come through the ranks at West Brom and impressed throughout his time as part of the youth setup.

He scored 28 goals in 64 combined appearances for the club’s Under-18 and Under-23 sides, and won the Premier League Cup in the 2021-22 campaign.

The starlet spent the 2021-22 season away on loan to Accrington Stanley and Solihull Moors but failed to make a real impact.

Corberan’s side won nine straight Championship games between November and January but have seen their form tail off in recent weeks.

The Baggies were eliminated in the fourth round of the FA Cup after a 3-0 loss against Bristol City, and have won just two of their last six league games.

11th-place West Brom are just six points adrift of a playoff berth ahead of Friday night’s clash against Hull.

The Tigers sit 16th in the Championship table and are without a win in their last four games.
