West Ham could move for Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah this month if they are to lose Nayef Aguerd, sources have told Football Insider.

He is viewed by the Stamford Bridge club as a saleable asset who could improve their Financial Fair Play situation if he was to make a move this month.

Meanwhile, West Ham are open to selling Aguerd this month - and could swoop for Chalobah to replace the Morocco international if he does depart.

David Moyes' side are open to offers for the 27-year-old centre-back just 18 months after he joined the Londoners, with Saudi Pro League outfits among his list of admirers.

Aguerd, who is currently away with Morocco at the African Cup of Nations, has made 21 appearances across all competitions this term.

His current competition at the heart of the defence is Kurt Zouma, Angelo Ogbonna, Konstantinos Mavropanos and Ben Johnson.

Meanwhile, Chalobah is yet to play a single competitive minute for Chelsea this season due to a long-term injury.

The former England Under-21 international is on the comeback trail but does not feature in the plans of Pochettino going forward.

West Ham

West Ham sit sixth in the Premier League ahead of their next top-flight clash against Sheffield United on 21 January.

Moyes' side will also play Europa League knockout-stage football from March.
