Sources: West Ham line up ‘enormous’ Kalvin Phillips offer

West Ham will make a fresh move to lure Kalvin Phillips from Leeds United this summer, Football Insider understands.

The London club were linked with a £50million swoop for the England star in January after identifying him as a key target.

A West Ham source has told Football Insider that Phillips, 26, remains on their radar going into the main window as they look to establish themselves as a side consistently in the top six of the Premier League.

The Irons are planning to offer an enormous salary to the player as well as more than £50m to Leeds for their prize asset.

Phillips has two years remaining on his Whites contract and talks over an extension have failed to progress.

He is valued by Leeds at between £60-70million.

The 19-cap midfielder earned England recognition following a stunning Premier League breakthrough last season.

However, Phillips has made just 12 league appearances this season after suffering a hamstring injury in December 2021.

The 26-year-old returned to the bench as Leeds United recorded a dramatic 3-2 win over Wolves on Friday (18 March).

He could reprise his role in the starting lineup against Southampton after the international break.

Phillips came through the youth setup at Thorp Arch, making his debut against Wolves in April 2015.

He established himself as a regular in the 2016/17 season and has gone on to make 226 appearances for Leeds.

Leeds United sit 16th in the Premier League under new boss Jesse Marsch.

They have moved seven points clear of the drop zone after two straight wins.

Meanwhile, West Ham’s top-four hopes took a big dent as they suffered a 3-1 defeat at the hands of rivals Tottenham yesterday (20 March).

David Moyes’ side are seventh in the Premier League.
