West Ham have joined Arsenal in the race for Bournemouth wonderkid Ajani Burchall, Football Insider can reveal.
It was reported earlier this week that the London giants are pursuing a potential deal for the 16-year-old after he rejected a scholarship deal at the Championship club.
A recruitment source has told Football Insider that West Ham are also closely monitoring Burchall’s situation and are ready to make a move.
The teenager is expected to leave the Vitality Stadium at the end of the season, when his contract expires.
He has made it clear behind the scenes he is looking to move on irrespective of which division Bournemouth are in next season.
The Bermudan winger, who is still at school, became the Cherries’ third-youngest-ever player when making his debut as a substitute in December’s 5-0 win over Huddersfield.
He is yet to add to that single appearance although he has also been on the bench against Luton Town.
Arsenal have an impressive track record in recent years in terms of developing youngsters for the first team.
The most impressive of the current first team are mainstays Hector Bellerin and Bukayo Saka, while the likes of Alex Iwobi and Serge Gnabry have also gone on to big things after making their name at Emirates Stadium.
The star graduate of the West Ham set-up is Declan Rice, who has emerged as one of the outstanding defensive midfielders in the Premier League.
