Sources: Wolves plot Guedes signing and £16m star to be offered in part-exchange
Wolves are planning to step up their interest in Valencia striker Goncalo Guedes, Football Insider understands.
This site revealed last month the Midlands giants have an interest in the Portugal international, 24, as they target forward reinforcements.
A Wolves source has told Football Insider the club have set their sights on Guedes and they are weighing up offering Patrick Cutrone in part-exchange.
The 23-year-old striker was signed from AC Milan in the summer of 2019 for £16million plus add-ons but has made little impact.
Coincidentally, Cutrone is now vying for a place in the same Valencia side as Guedes after joining them on loan in January.
The Portugese is a mainstay of the Spanish team’s starting XI, while Cutrone is yet to start for them.

The latest of his five sub appearances came in last weekend’s 2-1 defeat to Cadiz, a match in which Guedes supplied the assist for strike partner Kevin Gameiro’s goal.
Guedes is on the books of Mendes’ Gestifute agency and the transfer facilitator also has strong links to Valencia.
Wolves were linked with the Portugese in 2018 when he was at Paris Saint-Germain but he ended up joining Valencia for a fee of £36million.
Guedes is a 22-times international with four goals and four assists from 25 Valencia matches this season.
Cutrone is a one-time Italy international and was hailed as a potential star after making his name at Milan.
But he has failed to live up to that billing in the Premier League.
He was loaned to Fiorentina in January 2020 for 18 months before that was cut short in January of this year, and he joined Valencia shortly afterwards.
His record for Wolves of three goals and four assists from 28 appearances is a poor return on the fee paid two summers ago.
