Sources: Olympiacos agree to sign Southampton star Valery
Olympiacos have agreed to sign Southampton defender Yan Valery, Football Insider can exclusively reveal.
The Premier League club have given the green light to the right-back heading out of St Mary’s this season.
A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Valery, 22, has agreed to sign for Greek giants Olympiacos on a season-long loan.
Valery featured for the Saints in the 8-0 drubbing of Newport County in the League Cup last Wednesday.
But 18-year-old sensation Tino Livramento was reinstated to the starting XI for Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Newcastle United.
The youngster has enjoyed a stellar start to the season after signing from Chelsea and has knocked Valery down the pecking order at St. Mary’s.
Valery is under contract with the Saints until 2023 after signing an extension in March 2019.
That came 16 months after he made his senior debut for the club in a League Cup clash against Leicester City.
The academy graduate has gone on to feature 41 times for the club in total, netting twice and supplying one assist.
Olympiacos sauntered to the Greek Super League title in 2020-21, finishing 26 points clear of nearest challengers PAOK.
They are yet to begin their domestic campaign but have successfully qualified for the Europa League group stage.

Southampton meanwhile have registered two draws and one defeat in their opening three league matches.
Valery will become the ninth player to depart the club this summer, and the second to leave on loan after striker Dan N’Lundulu joined Lincoln City.
