Spurs Exclusive: Paul Robinson makes big claim about Harry Winks
Paul Robinson has suggested that Harry Winks should be the “first name” on the team sheet in Tottenham Hotspur’s midfield.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Spurs goalkeeper claimed that teammates Tanguy Ndombele and Eric Dier are both struggling for consistency, but that the 24-year-old has been a standout performer for Jose Mourinho’s side.
The central midfielder has made 20 Premier League appearances so far this, and hasn’t missed a match since New Year’s Day.
And Robinson believes that Winks’ continued inclusion is more than justified.
“Mourinho, he rotates the midfield a lot,” he told Football Insider.
“You’ve seen Eric Dier come in, Harry Winks. Out of them all, for me, Winks is the first name that I would play in that holding midfield

“Ndombele was very, very good when he first came in. He’s had up and down form since Mourinho arrived, and I don’t know that he knows his best holding two midfielders.
“He stuck Eric Dier in there when he first came in – he’s not managed to hold down his place, but Harry Winks seems to be the one.
“If Ndombele can get match fit and be consistent I think his two would be Ndombele and Winks, but at the moment he’s chopping and changing.”
Winks missed a large portion of the closing stages of last season with a groin injury that kept him sidelined from March onwards.
This year has been much more productive for the England international, although he is still yet to register any goals or assists from the centre of midfield.
