Tottenham are set to swoop for Napoli midfielder Amadou Diawara, according to a report.
Corriere dello Sport claims that Napoli want to buy 22-year-old defensive midfielder Lucas Torreira and that they have begun negotiations already with Sampdoria.
They will fund his purchase with the sale of Guinea-born Diawara, who has only made three starts in 15 Serie A appearances this season.
Napoli are currently flying high in second place, just two points behind Juventus.
Diawara hasn’t been a regular starter since the 15/16 season with Bologna.
Football Insider verdict:
Diawara is described as being 20 years of “muscle and strength” but Spurs fans might be concerned that he’s not getting game time at Napoli. However, they could do with back-up for the midfield, with Dembele getting older and Eric Dier not as convincing. If Pochettino has seen something in him, then Tottenham is definitely the best place for the youngster, and with negotiations already underway for Lucas Torreira, it seems that Napoli are very keen to sell as soon as the window opens. They might also be open to selling him for a decent price.
