Stan Collymore praised Tottenham’s defensive midfielders in their 2-0 victory against Manchester City on Sunday afternoon.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side led 2-0 going into the break, after a Danny Rose cross was converted into his own net by Aleksandar Kolarov, before a low drive from Dele Alli doubled his sides lead.

Spurs’ defensive line produced a solid second-half display, despite Erik Lamela missing a penalty as the north London club moved to second in the Premier League table, with 17 points.

During the game Broadcaser Collymore took to his personal Twitter account to praise the performance of defensive duo Victor Wanyama and Moussa Sissoko.

“Tottenham Hotspurs defensive midfielders have been excellent,” Collymore wrote on his personal Twitter account. “Stopping virtually anything going to Silva and in turn the City front men.”

Here is Collymore giving his verdict on Tottenham’s display during their victory against Manchester City.

France international Sissoko played 72 minutes, before he was replaced by the returning Eric Dier, while Wanyama was an integral figure throughout the 90 minutes.

Pochettino’s side produced a high intensive first-half, with Wanyama and Sissoko using their strength to prevent City from producing any dangerous attacks.

Spurs will now travel to the Hawthorns after the international break, as they take on Tony Pulis’ West Brom on October 15.
