Stan Collymore reveals what was alarming about Tottenham display v Gent
By Amir Mir
Stan Collymore believes that Tottenham having difficulty beating Gent over two games should ring alarm bells that the Premier League is “back peddling”.
Former Liverpool striker described Spurs as one of England’s “brightest teams”, but was critical of them getting knocked out of the Europa League.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side were beaten 3-2 on aggregate against the Belgian side, including recording a 2-2 draw at Wembley on Thursday night.
Despite the north London club’s failure to reach the last 16, fellow English counterparts Manchester United beat French side Saint-Etienne to qualify through to the next round.
But, former Villa forward Collymore was critical of Tottenham’s inability to beat Gent over two legs as posted on his personal Twitter account.

Other sides contesting in Europe are Manchester City, Arsenal and Leicester – the trio are currently competing in the Champions League knockout stages.
Pep Guardiola’s side are the only team who won their first leg fixture against their opponents, with the Gunners suffering a 5-1 hammering defeat at the hands of Bayern Munich.
Furthermore, the Premier League champions, Leicester fought hard as they were beaten 2-1 in their first leg encounter at Sevilla.
However, since that defeat, the Foxes hierarchy have decided to sack title winning manager Claudio Ranieri nine months after lifting the club’s first ever English crown.
