Stan Collymore: Surely Liverpool have to be interested in Tottenham 26-year-old
By Harvey Byrne
Former Liverpool man turned outspoken pundit Stan Collymore believes Tottenham star Danny Rose is certainly a player the Reds should be looking at this summer.
The Merseyside giants played the majority of the last campaign with James Milner as their recognised left-back due to the defensive frailties of Spaniard Alberto Moreno.
The position was largely seen as a specific weak area in Jurgen Klopp’s back four, while Spurs had one of the best in the Premier League in the form of Rose.
Now, there is no indications that the 26-year-old Tottenham player wants to leave north London this summer, other than a Sun report stating that himself, Kyle Walker and Eric Dier are all looking to leave with both Manchester United and City lurking.
This has led to Collymore stating that if Rose does want out of Tottenham then surely Liverpool should be looking at him and even trying to gazump big spending rivals Manchester United.

“Areas for improvement, left-back,” told Collymore speaking during a video on BoyleSports’ YouTube account.
“Obviously James Milner played there a hell of a lot last season. Now, if Danny Rose wants out of Spurs, I’m not saying that he does or he doesn’t. I don’t know and Manchester United are interested, then surely Liverpool have to be interested.
“Manchester United got into the Champions League via the back door. Liverpool did it by their league position. They should be looking at the situation very, very carefully and perhaps thinking ‘yeah, if Danny Rose is available, let’s gazump Manchester United, let’s gazump other clubs that maybe interested in him.’
“A specialist, an England international, will join up with other internationals like (Jordan) Henderson and (Adam) Lallana makes perfect sense for me.”
Rose has been at Tottenham since completing a £1million move from Leeds in the summer of 2007.
He has gone on to play 144 times for the north London side in total with last season being his most impressive as he showcased his ability to move up and down the pitch in the left wing-back role.
The 12-time capped England international would be a huge loss to Tottenham, while Liverpool are looking to build a team that could help them challenge for the title once again.
In other Liverpool transfer news, the Reds are weighing up a move for this long-term Klopp target.
