Chelsea are likely to pay around £15million after signing Jadon Sancho on a season-long loan deal from Manchester United.

That is the view of finance expert Stefan Borson, who exclusively told Football Insider the west London club have landed a decent deal for the winger given how much Man United paid to sign him.

Sancho made the move to Old Trafford for £73million in 2021 after impressing for Borussia Dortmund.

But following his high-profile fallout with Erik ten Hag last season, the England international returned to the Bundesliga side on loan in January this year.

Chelsea then signed the 24-year-old on the final day of the summer transfer window, with the loan deal including an obligation to buy him for between £20-25million at the end of this season.

Chelsea will pay majority of Jadon Sancho's wages

Borson revealed Enzo Maresca’s side will pay the majority of Sancho’s wages during his time at Stamford Bridge.

“In the right way, they have looked at the deal in the round,” Borson told Football Insider.

“Yes, they are paying high headline wages, which is a consequence of the deal he was on at United.

“We believe they are paying the vast majority of those wages, so it could easily be £250,000 a week.

“But we also understand they are not paying a loan fee, which is clearly a positive.

“Their total cost probably for this season all in might be £15million for the player, which is not crazy.

“At the end of it, they will pay between £20-25million, which on the face of it, looks like a decent deal compared to what United paid for him.

“But all of that assumes he can regain his form.”
