Wolves have endured a poor start to the new season as they find themselves propping up the Premier League table.

There has been speculation around a Wolves takeover deal following the club’s recent struggles on the pitch.

John Textor has emerged as a surprise name to buy Wolves after selling his shares in Crystal Palace over the summer.

talkSPORT reported on 27 October Textor has launched a bid to purchase the West Midlands club, with the offer believed to consist of £150million in cash and a further £262.2m in shares.

John Textor facing financial challenges after Wolves latest

Former Man City financial adviser Stefan Borson exclusively told Football Insider Textor doesn’t appear to be in a position to buy a major British club at this moment in time.

There has long been questions asked about Textor’s financial situation, with the American billionaire’s Eagle Football Group owing Ares Management more than $450m (£345m).

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the possibility of Textor buying Wolves, Borson said: “In short, I would be very skeptical about any story.

“It's very hard to see how given the situation at Eagle, and they've not yet put out their numbers, so they're late on their numbers for the last season.

“Given the debt situation they've got, they're paying close to 20 per cent interest to Ares, who have lent them the money.”

Chinese conglomerate Fosun International has owned Wolves since 2016.

Could John Textor agree Wolves takeover deal?

Chairman Jeff Shi revealed Wolves were looking to bring in a minority investor last year, but that has so far failed to materialise.

Borson insisted it’s unlikely Textor will be able to agree a deal at Molineux.

“I do not see how he's going to be in a position to be able to buy a major Premier League club or a major British club, to be honest,” said Borson.

"It just does not seem likely to me. But he has managed to do unexpected things in the past, so you never say never, but I think it's pretty unlikely.”

Textor has also been linked with a Sheffield Wednesday takeover as he looks to secure a deal for a new club.
