Jurgen Klopp could start working with Leeds United if Red Bull decide to take a bigger stake in the club after he’s accepted a role with the company.

That is the view of finance expert Stefan Borson, who exclusively told Football Insider Red Bull likely don’t own enough of the Championship club for the German manager to immediately be involved with them.

Red Bull confirmed on 9 October Klopp has agreed to become the Austrian company’s Head of Global Soccer, where he will oversee their network of international clubs from 1 January 2025.

The energy drinks brand owns RB Leipzig, Red Bull Salzburg, New York Red Bulls and Red Bull Bragantino.

Red Bull also secured a minority stake earlier this year in Leeds, who are owned by 49ers Enterprises.

Klopp’s new role comes after he left Liverpool at the end of last season following a nine-year spell at Anfield.

Jurgen Klopp unlikely to be initially working with Leeds United

But Borson doesn’t expect the 57-year-old to be working with Leeds initially.

He told Football Insider“As far as I have seen, it’s not been talked about as being part of the role.

“I suspect that’s because they don’t own enough of Leeds.

“But that could change over the next couple of years if this role lasts for a lengthy period.

“They may have acquired more of Leeds by that point and then he probably would be more involved.

Liverpool

“But I think it’s a good move for him.

“He’s going to find out about a multi-club organisation and learn a lot from the way Red Bull do things.”
