Liverpool star Mohamed Salah has endured a difficult start to the season after his form has dipped at Anfield.

Salah has faced scrutiny for his recent performances at Liverpool, having registered five goals and three assists in his opening 15 games of the campaign.

There was talk earlier this year of Salah receiving a stake in Al-Hilal if he decided to move to Saudi Arabia in the summer.

The speculation was quickly shut down when Salah signed a new two-year contract at Liverpool in April, with his deal now expiring in June 2027.

However, TBR Football reported on 29 October the Egypt international still has an offer on the table worth £150million a year to move to the Saudi Pro League.

Could Mohamed Salah agree £150m deal?

Former Man City financial adviser Stefan Borson exclusively told Football Insider Liverpool could accept a “massive” offer from Saudi for Salah.

It’s been reported Arne Slot is concerned about Salah after seeing the winger’s decline in the early stages of this season.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider about Salah agreeing a £150m-a-year deal, Borson said: “I expect that story is total nonsense. Now, clearly there'll be interest at the end of the season in him.

“But we know that this is what sometimes happens with older players. Unfortunately, they can look fantastic and then pretty much fall off a cliff. A lot of older players talk about it happening in real time. Their bodies just can't do what they want them to do.

“They were great one season and the next season it was just too much for them.”

Salah scored in Liverpool’s 2-0 victory over Aston Villa on Saturday (1 November) to make it back-to-back Premier League fixtures where he’s got on the scoresheet.

Salah could be set for Liverpool collapse

However, Borson suggested Salah could be set for a down season due to his age, having turned 33 in June.

“It does happen,” said Borson.

“I mean, it doesn't look like it should happen with Mo Salah, just because of his physical shape, which is obviously exceptional, and he's not really had major injuries.

“So, he doesn't look like the kind of guy that will have had those sorts of issues, but we know that is what happens sometimes. Maybe that's just what's going to happen this season. He's just going to have one of those older player collapses and can't perform to his historic level.

“Then obviously Liverpool ideally would look to move him on for a massive fee at the end of the season. He would presumably want to take it.”

Salah registered 34 goals and 23 assists in 52 appearances for Liverpool last season, but he appears unlikely to reach those figures this time around.
