Steven Gerrard has been linked with a potential return to Rangers should the club decide to dismiss Philippe Clement.

Sitting in third, nine points behind Aberdeen and Old Firm rivals Celtic, Clement, 50, is under immense pressure as Rangers lag far behind in the race for the Scottish Premier League title.

The Ibrox faithful will have to wait until after the international break to see their team again as they prepare for a visit from Dundee United.

Steven Gerrard reminiscing about his Rangers past

Gerrard, 44, has struggled since leaving Rangers back in 2021, first with Aston Villa and now with Saudi Arabian club Al-Ettifaq.

Al-Ettifaq currently sit 12th in the 18-team Saudi Pro League, having lost five of their ten league games this season, including four defeats in their last five matches.

The former England international survived a recent shake-up at the club, keeping his £15million a year job but assistant manager Dean Holden and sporting director Mark Allen have both left the club by mutual consent.

Clearly missing his time in Glasgow, Gerrard took to Instagram to repost an image of a young Rangers fan.

After winning the Scottish Premier League in 2020-21, Gerrard still has a lot of credit in the bank amongst Rangers fans.

For now though, he remains in Saudi Arabia, helping his side prepare for a massive must-win game against Al Riyadh.
