Steven Gerrard: This Tottenham man is world class (not Alli or Kane)
By Amir Mir
Steven Gerrard has hailed Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino as “world class” after he guided his side to a 4-0 win over Bournemouth on Saturday afternoon.
The three points at White Hart Lane helped Spurs, briefly, close the gap on league leaders Chelsea to four points with their London rivals playing Manchester United on Sunday.
Over the course of the campaign, the highly-rated Argentine coach has helped his team challenge for the title following their third-placed finish last term.
One of their most impressive performances and wins this season came against Antonio Conte’s side in January when Tottenham ended their 13 games winning run by beating them 2-0.
On that day, the likes of Victor Wanyama stood out, with Dele Alli finding the back of the net with two brilliantly guided headers.

Former Liverpool midfielder Gerrard believes that game, tactically, was proof of how good a manager Pochettino is as he delivered high praise of the Spurs man.
“I think he was one of a few who spotted Chelsea’s weakness in getting crosses from the right side and playing on Cesar Azpilicueta,” Gerrard told Premier League’s tonight show which aired on BT Sports on Saturday evening.
“They got two very similar goals in that game. Credit to the manager. He’s world class, he spots things very easily.”
In May 2014, Pochettino left his role at Southampton to join up with Tottenham where he has enjoyed huge success without winning a trophy.
This term, he is hoping to clinch an unlikely Premier League title at the hands of Chelsea, with six matches of the season remaining.
If Pochettino’s side falls short then they will still have the opportunity to lift the FA Cup with their semi-final clash against the Blues set to take place on April 22 at Wembley.
